Ever wondered what those giant coloured bouncy balls are for and what they can do for you? The new ultimate workout incorporating stability balls. Yes, so maybe you have seen people roll around on big balls, but the question is have you ever tried this fun, functional workout? If not, you’ve been missing out. So why should you do a V-Core class? Every day our bodies are placed under strain. Imbalances occur because of the things we do and the positions we place our bodies in. A common occurrence from sitting at a pc all day is rounded shoulder syndrome [UCS] - not to mention a tight back and weak abdominals. You can’t help it, it is what happens when we place our bodies in positions out of it’s normal lines
Virgin Active was one of the first fitness companies in the UK to develop the BOSU class with Sheffield and Uxbridge trialling the classes in April 05. Most Virgin Active clubs now feature BOSU on their current timetable, with more joining in the fun all the time. BOSU is a programme designed to work the entire body and improve strength, body conditioning, posture and aerobic fitness. It is a multi functional tool for many uses in the gym and key with Personal Trainers, it can be used for athletes to promote injury recovery as well as power and strength training. It will improve balance, co-ordination and core stability as well as encourage weight loss. The BOSU workout is safe and easy to use regardless of fitness level. Exercises are progressive. You can start with easy and fun activities then gradually advance to exercises that are more challenging. There is no minimum fitness level to attend a BOSU class and as choreography is limited you don't have to worry about mastering any fancy steps... so no excuses! V-Core teaches your body how to be more functional by creating a stable strong core - that’s the abdominal and back area. The 'core' is also those deep muscles you use when you cough and go to the bathroom! And the results? Flat strong abs and a body that is symmetrical and moves better, as well as a corrected posture so no more slouching or "putting your back out" when you mow the lawn! The class is suitable for everyone regardless of age and fitness level. It will help improve strength, balance, endurance, mobility and flexibility leaving you feeling great all over. Using a core ball to exercise ball is great for improving the cardiovascular system, body awareness, coordination, strengthening muscles, toning and was developed originally to assist with therapy, rehabilitation and sports training. After mastering a V-Core class you can take what you’ve learnt and introduce the core ball to your regular fitness regime.
